The Basic elements of the reed diffuser.
Reed diffuser are made up of three elements. The container that holds the oil. The fragranced oil itself and lastly the reeds. All three elements play a vital role in creating the right mood for your home.
A beautiful bottle, ideally glass or ceramic holds the fragranced oil. This bottle should be heavy enough at the base so as not to be knocked over easily. When selecting the fragranced oil, consideration should be given to what room the reed diffuser will be placed in. Bathrooms benefit from crisp, fresh citrus scents whilst musks and florals suit bedrooms, helping to create a tranquil and relaxing environment. Our third element, The reeds ideally should be twice the height of the container. You can use as many reeds as you wish in the bottle, but should the scent be too intense some reeds can be removed.
So, now that we have decided which fragranced oil creates the right ambiance for our room……..What do we need to consider next…..
When it comes to reed diffusers…….. size matters.
Large diffusers suit large rooms and some open plan homes may require more than one diffuser. open windows and doors will also affect the strenght of scent in your room.
Ideally place your reed diffuser in an area where people move past it. Generally air movement helps to circulate the scent and throw the fragrance, so it’s best to place it in a high traffic area that will help move the scent around your room. Avoid placing it near a door that leads outside where the fragrance will be lost. The oils in the reed diffuser are absorbed into the fiber reeds and as air passes over the reeds the fragrance molecules are released into your room. Room temperature also affects how the fragrance molecules evaporate off the reeds. The warmer your room the faster the scent is released, similarly a cold room will have less scent throw.
Keep a refil bottle of your favourite fragrance handy so that you never run out. you can wash the diffuser bottle with soap and water and refil it with one of our refil bottles from the diffuser collection. These refil bottles come with new reeds.
